Bordering the Manatee River and Tampa Bay, Bradenton offers exceptional fishing on Florida's largest open-water estuary covering 398 square miles at high tide.

Known as a top sport fishing destination you can be sure that Tampa Bay will satisfy even the most experienced angler offering inshore catches of tarpon, snook, redfish and trout as well as deep sea adventures offering species like snapper, amberjack and Goliath grouper.

If not on a charter remember to abide by Floridaís Fish & Wildlife rules and regulations.

Manatee River - Downstream of the dam, this river offers excellent largemouth bass, snook, bream, and catfish action.

Warners Bayou - 59th Street Boat Ramp: This spot is legendary for catching flounder, red fish and small to medium sized shark. There are picnic tables, a small beach area and terrific views of the river. Warners Bayou is set along the widest part of the Manatee River, with multiple boat ramps offering views of lush waterfront homes along Riverview Blvd, Palma Sola, and Shawís Point. Since the ramp is open 24 hours you can even drop a line on a beautiful moonlit night.

Rye Preserve - Fishing is available from the shoreline along the Manatee River. Please be kind to the vegetation when fishing from shore within the preserve.
NOTE: Fishing is subject to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations.

Robinson Preserve - Fishing is available throughout the preserve, subject to Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission regulations. Click HERE for details.

Lake Manatee State Park - The best fishing in the region can be found on the 2,400 watery acres of Lake Manatee. Sunshine bass, speckled perch, bluegill and crappie can be found in most parts of the lake, while catfish and largemouth bass tend to favor deeper waters. Anglers can fish from their boats or from the park's fishing dock.

There is a boat ramp and launching dock and ample parking spaces for boat trailers. Low docks line both sides of the boat ramp. Only boat motors up to 20 horsepower are allowed.

Lake Manatee State Park runs along 3 miles of shore line on the lake with fishing, boating, and camping along with great facilities like restrooms, showers, and picnicking areas. The park is open 365 days a year, from 8 a.m. until sunset.

A Florida freshwater fishing license is required for all persons over 16 years of age.

Palma Sola Bay - Situated between the barrier island of Anna Maria and the city of Bradenton land mass at the upper reaches of Sarasota Bay, Palma Sola Bay has numerous boat launches -- but the most convenient would be the Kingfish Boat Ramp.

This diverse fishing habitat accesses miles of productive shoreline ringed with oyster bars and mangrove points. Great schools of mullet are often seen working through the area, almost always stalked by hungry populations of redfish and snook. The deepest part of Palma Sola Bay is a channel that runs through its center, thatís surrounded on either side by a series of sand bars. Between the sandbars and mangrove shoreline is a trough, which provides ideal ambush points for the resident species.

Most of Palma Sola is quite skinny, so itís a good idea to stay in the deeper channel until you decide on which shoreline youíll be fishing. A shallow draft vessel is highly recommended so that you can get around or over those sand bars to access the trough and mangrove areas along the shores.
