Anna Maria Island
The South Florida Museum, Bishop Planetarium and Parker Aquarium are a great way to engage in local history, relax
in a state of the art planetarium and meet "Snooty", the oldest living manatee born in captivity. A relative
of the elephant, these giant herbivores spend most of their time grazing along our shallow, marshy riverbeds as well as
the Gulf of Mexico. The
South Florida Museum also offers Films every Friday at 6pm.
Then take a Manatee River cruise from our downtown marina and snap a shot of Snootyís relatives as well as alligators,
shorebirds, eagles and more.
Head to the
Village of the Arts where an elite group of artists create jewelry, clothing, functional art pieces, watercolors,
paintings and more. All 35 galleries are open on the First Friday of every month for an evening of interaction,
strolling and dining at one of three cafes. Galleries are open again on Saturday, from 11:00am to 4:00pm.
If looking to buy a few trinkets for friends and family, thereís great bargain hunting at the Red Barn Flea Market.
With 80,000 square feet of air-conditioned shopping, BBQ and farm fresh veggies itís great fun for everyone.
Every third Friday of the month, enjoy a movie under the stars at
Reels & Rossi Park.
